Winter-weight warmth with a bare crib — the 2.5 TOG is how cold-night sleep stays safe sleep.

Steam trains, stone bridges, evergreens — the small commuter who hasn't slept through the night yet.

This is the winter weight, built for a cold nursery between 61 and 68°F. When a 1.0 TOG stops being enough on the coldest nights, this is the bag that holds the warmth in without a loose blanket.

Material. A TENCEL™ Lyocell shell over a fuller layer of DuPont™ Sorona insulation, a plant-based fill that holds real warmth without the bulk of a padded blanket. TENCEL™ is Lenzing's wood-pulp fiber, spun in a closed-loop process and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

Why most brands skip this weight. A true 2.5 TOG is harder to make than a padded 1.0, so most premium lines stop at the lighter weight and leave cold nurseries to a loose blanket. This one is built for the 61–68°F room, so the blanket stays out of the crib.

The print. White ground with watercolor steam locomotives in blue, red, and yellow, stone bridges, pine trees, and railroad crossings.

Construction. Sleeveless on purpose, so your baby sheds heat instead of trapping it. A two-way zipper runs the length of the bag, so a midnight diaper change takes seconds and wakes nobody. The neck and arm openings are bound in soft fabric, not scratchy serged edges, and cut snug — the part that matters most for safe sleep.

Adjacent TOGs in the same print. Room warmed up to 69–75°F? The 1.0 TOG TENCEL™ Sleep Bag in All Aboard is the year-round weight. For warm summer nurseries above 75°F, the 0.5 TOG Muslin Sleep Bag.

Sizing. 0–6M (8–18 lb), 6–18M (18–28 lb), 18–36M (28–38 lb). Always size to weight, not age. Loose shoulders are a safety issue overnight.

Care. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. Don't bleach, and don't iron the printed areas. Baby laundry runs two or three cycles a week, and TENCEL™ holds its surface through all of them.

Safety & certification. AAP safe-sleep compliant and tested to CPSC, CPSIA, and ASTM standards. The material is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and Loulou Lollipop is a Certified B Corporation.

Common questions

When is a 2.5 TOG sleep sack the right choice?

When the nursery sits between 61 and 68°F overnight — cold-snap winter, drafty older homes, basement bedrooms. Below 61°F you're past sleep-sack territory and into raising the thermostat.

Will a 2.5 TOG be too warm for an average winter nursery?

If your nursery sits at 69–75°F overnight in winter, the 1.0 TOG TENCEL™ is the right weight. The 2.5 TOG is for genuinely cold rooms. Doubling a sleeper under a 1.0 TOG is also a common winter solution — but that can actually overheat your baby faster than a single 2.5 TOG bag would.

What is DuPont™ Sorona insulation?

Sorona is a plant-based polymer fiber DuPont produces from corn-derived feedstock. It traps warmth without bulk, so a 2.5 TOG sleep bag doesn't feel like a winter parka on a six-month-old. It also keeps its loft through wash cycles longer than polyester batting.

Samuel E. ★★★★★

First cold snap hit and the 2.5 TOG has kept our little one warm in just a onesie underneath, no extra blanket needed. The lyocell feels soft and breathable, not sweaty like the fleece sack we used before. Waking up to a warm, dry baby at 3am is worth every penny.

Joshua Q. ★★★★★

We switched to this sleep bag when our daughter started kicking off blankets, and the TENCEL lyocell feels noticeably softer and less clammy than her old fleece one. The train print is cute, and she's stayed warm through the night in a bare crib without overheating.

Matthew O. ★★★★★

The 2.5 TOG rating is spot on for our chilly apartment, and my daughter stays warm in just a onesie underneath. The lyocell feels silky against her skin, way softer than the fleece sack we used before.
